About Micky Mellon

Micky is one of the most successful managers in lower league English football. Now, he has deservedly earned his opportunity to lead a side on a bigger stage. That stage is the Scottish Premier League with Dundee United. Prior to this appointment, he has 5 English promotions as manager before making the move back to his native Scotland.

Micky is a master of the first 100 days. He has an adaptive style, built on emotional intelligence and a drive to be successful. He has refined his approach after working with Phil over the last two years to become experts in the first 100 days.

Micky’s other great attributes are talent spotting and player development. Most notably, he took a chance on Halifax Town striker, Jamie Vardy who yielded 34 goals in 40 games and took Fleetwood to 29 games unbeaten and to reach the Football League for the first time in their history. Mellon has also nurtured the likes of future £50m defender, John Stones.
