SUMMARY:Protecting children from online harm
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Tuesday 21 May at 4.00pm – 5.00pm for the LEARN LIVE webinar ‘Protecting children from online harm’\nWhat are the aims of this webinar? \nIn our session we will be taking you on a journey that explores the online world through the\neyes of a child. Starting by learning more about which websites and apps children and young\npeople spend most of their time on and their respective dangers. We follow this by sharing\nthe findings from our independent evaluations\, that gives a snapshot of what teachers have\nbeen facing and what we can do as educators to keep our children safe. \nWe will then explore some of the unhealthy habits and patterns young people have\ndeveloped due to their online use. To do this we will be watching real life scenarios that\nyoung people are faced with that have been acted out by professional actors followed by\nexploring the effects on school culture and society as a whole when these scenarios are left\nunattended to. \nAs the world develops around our children\, simply warning them of the dangers they face\nmay not be enough for them to take heed. We want to explore how experiential learning\nrooted in an arts based methodology can bear the best results. \nBenefits of attending\n– Clarity on what dangers young people face online and on which platforms.\n– Take away activities that can be used to facilitate a conversation in the classroom\nwith your students.\n– A better understanding of experiential learning rooted in arts based methodology \nWho are Diverse Voices? \nDiverse Voices is a leading provider of creative approaches to education. Using our\ninteractive e-learning tools\, teachers resources and the performing arts we inspire young\npeople to realise their creative potential\, improve life skills and explore sensitive and\nimportant issues. \nWith over 12 years of experience tackling sensitive subjects and having worked with over\n100 schools delivering to over 37\,000 children and young people\, we are well equipped to\nprovide solutions that are proven in practice not just in theory. We’ve transferred our many\nyears of experience into projects which provide measurable outcomes in key areas linked to\nthe PSHE national curriculum. \nWe are especially keen to share our findings around topics related to Relationships and Sex\nEducation (RSE)\, online safety and the laws around consent\, as young people are spending\nan increasing amount of time on the internet post pandemic and need extra support around\nthese issues. \nCovid-19 has impacted a lot of young people’s confidence in being able to\narticulate and express themselves\, but by using creative methods these sensitive issues can\nbe approached in ways that encourage students to open up and learn from a shared\nexperience. \n  \n<\n\n \n\n\nRegister now
