Progressive Masculinity are national leaders in the area of redefining notions of masculinity boys and young men across the UK. As they explain, ‘…we see boys and young men who feel unseen, unheard, marginalised and frustrated. At Progressive Masculinity we use our 20 years’ of experience in education to have the difficult conversations often considered taboo within the male world but we also want to bring back the joy and pride of masculinity by exploring our potential and the many amazing men out there having a positive impact on the world to counter the overwhelmingly negative social narrative around masculinity’.
Mike Nicholoson is Director of Progressive Masculinity. After 18 years of teaching, he became convinced that ‘that the root of many of our boys’ and young men’s issues stemmed from regressive models of masculinity centred on power and dominance. As a consequence, Mike set up Progressive Masculinity to tackle this issue.
