Keeping Children Safe in Education 2023 (KCSIE)

Whether you are a permanent member of staff or a supply educator, you will be expected to have read Part 1 of KCSIE. Watch the attached video and read the document before taking the test. Every educator will need to have read Part 1 of KCSIE. All Opogo staff will need to obtain their KCSIE certificate via Learn. In addition, you’ll need to update this training each year as there are updates on an annual basis.

You can access Part 1 here. It is important that you read this and take notes. It is this document that the quiz will refer to. Lesson 1 of this course is presented by Director of Learn, Phil Denton, explains the key points from Part 1 from a former headteacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).

The updates to this years’ KCSIE are detailed here. The 2nd lesson for this course goes over these changes if you would rather listen to the explanation than read the document. However, we would recommend doing both.

Below is an introductory video from LGfL which details the key updates for Keeping Children Safe in Education in 2023. The London Grid for Learning (LGfL) is a community of schools and local authorities committed to using technology to enhance teaching & learning both in London (LGfL) and outside (National Grid for Learning). Their updates are well worth following either via their website or YouTube channel.

Advanced courses for safeguarding are available here.
