Whether you are a permanent member of staff or a supply educator, you will be expected to have read Part 1 of KCSIE. We have separated this into 3 lessons for you to gain a full understanding of this key document.
Watch the videos and read the document before taking the test. Every educator will need to have read Part 1 of KCSIE. All Opogo staff will need to obtain their KCSIE certificate via Learn. In addition, you’ll need to update this training each year as there are updates on an annual basis.
Our materials section contains the full document along with ‘Working Together to Safeguard Children’. You will hear that both documents should be read by all adults working in educational settings with children aged 18 and under.
You can access Part 1 here. It is important that you read this and take notes. It is this document that the quiz will refer to. Lesson 1 of this course is presented by Director of Learn, Phil Denton, explains the key points from Part 1 from a former headteacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
About our Presenter

Updates for 2024
The updates to this years’ KCSIE are detailed in the 4th lesson of this course. This lesson goes over these changes if you would rather listen to the explanation than read the document. However, we would recommend doing both.
Advanced courses for safeguarding are available here.
