Keeping Children Safe In Education 2025/26

Last Updated – August 2025

Your Role in Safeguarding Starts Here

Welcome to your KCSIE (Keeping Children Safe in Education) training — a mandatory step for anyone working with children in UK schools and colleges. Whether you’re a teaching assistant, teacher, lunchtime supervisor or exam invigilator, safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. This course will guide you through the key principles of KCSIE so you understand your role in helping keep pupils safe, recognised, and protected.

KCSIE sits within the wider safeguarding framework set out in Working Together to Safeguard Children. This means the guidance you follow in school is part of a national, multi-agency approach where schools, social care, health services, police, and other organisations work together to protect children.

Why This Course Matters:

  • KCSIE is statutory guidance from the Department for Education.
  • If you’re working in a school or college setting, you are legally required to read and understand the relevant sections.
  • This course ensures you’re compliant, confident, and classroom ready.

By completing this training, you will:

  • Understand what safeguarding is — and what it isn’t
  • Know how to recognise and respond to concerns
  • Understand your responsibilities under KCSIE
  • Be prepared to act professionally and protect children in your care

Your responsibilities:

All candidates must complete each step of this course to remain compliant for work in schools. This includes:

  • Watching the explainer videos where needed.
  • Reading the relevant KCSIE sections (Part 1)
  • Completing the compliance declaration
  • Passing the safeguarding quiz

Let’s get started — your actions could make a real difference in a child’s life.
