Introduction to the Course: Intervention for Struggling Readers
Welcome to “Intervention for Struggling Readers,” a comprehensive course designed to equip educators, parents, and support staff with the tools and strategies needed to support children and young people who face challenges in reading.
Understanding the Struggles
Many children and young people struggle with reading for a variety of reasons. These can include:
- Home Environment: A lack of access to books, limited parental support, or socio-economic factors can significantly impact a child’s reading development.
- Special Educational Needs (SEN): Conditions such as dyslexia, ADHD, and other learning disabilities can make reading more challenging.
- Other Factors: Emotional and behavioural issues, language barriers, and inconsistent schooling can also contribute to difficulties in reading.
